Esplanade in Etterbeek

There is a great deal of space on the Esplanade of the VUB Main Campus in Brussels. There, you really are in the spotlight. Making it the ideal location for:

  • handing out flyers for an upcoming event
  • selling cake and waffles for your organisation or project
  • setting up an info stand
  • selling tickets
  • arranging an initiation ceremony

How to request permission?

VUB students & staff
  1. Fill in this form.
  2. Once you have your approval, register with Student Information and submit your approval.
  3. Got permission from Student Information? Do your thing!

Remember that the person responsible or security may ask to see proof of your permission at any time (digital or paper).

Location

On the VUB Main Campus there are 4 potential locations for your esplanade activities:

  • Esplanade by the Crazy Copy Center (recommended)
  • End of the fire road (if vehicle present)
  • Top floor student restaurant
  • Entrance Hall building D

Special

standard package and/or water, special electricity (16A, 32A, 64A) and/or fire extinguisher (to be collected from security) when using flame, gas or electric cooking appliances.

Responsibility and (food) safety

In your application you declare that you take full responsibility for your activity and its consequences. The university may take you up on this at any time. Naturally, it is forbidden to endanger the safety of students, staff and visitors and to disrupt the universityโ€™s everyday activities. You will need to follow any instructions given by the person in charge or security and accept that they have the authority to put a stop to your activities at any time.

If you are serving food, you must carefully observe all aspects of food safety (such as maintaining the hot and cold chain). Be sure to read  the official advice of the federal government (Dutch only) and if in doubt, ask the student restaurant for help.
