VUB is a modern university, but with an old soul. Though we celebrated 50 years as an independent university in 2019, our roots are in the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), with which we have been associated for over 185 years since its foundation in 1834. This rich history produces a wealth of experiences, a network of connections and a first-rate education.
