Become a mentor at Duo for a Job!
VUB is looking for staff and alumni older than 50 years! Do you think social cohesion is important? Would you like to change the life of a young person with a migration background and enrich your own life at the same time? Then Duo for a job is for you!
Young people from a migrant background have a hard time finding a job nowadays. This is because they are at a huge disadvantage. The corona crisis made this situation even worse, as there are fewer job opportunities and more social and financial problems among young people from a migrant background. Access to public services has also become more difficult. They therefore desperately need a good coach in their search for a good job. As a proud VUB staff or alumnus, you can make an important difference!
In concrete terms, you offer yourself through Duo for a Job to become a mentor for a young person with a migrant background. You guide this person in his or her search for a job and support him or her where necessary. For six months you will meet weekly for 2 to 3 hours. During these moments you assess what the young person needs. This can range from help in preparing a CV, to preparing for a job interview, to how they can show someone what their strengths are. Currently, due to the current corona measures, those appointments take place online. The young people can really use all the support and help they can get. Therefore, your experience can make the important difference! So don't hesitate and become a mentor at Duo for a Job!
