Save Dr. Djalali’s life: “Any day could be my last”
It seems like a screenplay, but sadly it’s a true and topical story. Ahmadreza Djalali, a Swedish/Iranian emergency doctor and visiting professor at VUB, has been in an Iranian prison for over four years. However, he is not a criminal. The Iranian authorities charged him with espionage and arrested him without a warrant while he was on a working trip to Iran.

On 24 November 2020, we received alarming news about Dr Ahmadreza Djalali. Iranian-Swedish emergency doctor Ahmadreza Djalali telephoned his wife Vida Mehrannia that morning with the alarming message that he had to say goodbye. He was placed in isolation and informed that he would soon be executed.
What can you do?
You can help increase the pressure on the Iranian authorities. Take action together with Amnesty International, the VUB and the family of Ahmadreza Djalali and save the life of professor Djalali.
1. Share the following messages on social media
Iran is sensitive about its online reputation. Share the following social media messages and tag on Twitter and Instagram the President of Iran @hrouhani, the Iranian Foreign Minister @jzarif and the 'Supreme Leader' @khamenei_ir with the hashtag #SaveAhmadreza.
2. Send an e-mail to the Iranian authorities
Send an email to the Iranian embassy as soon as possible (secretariat@iranembassy.be). Download the sample email below and demand that the Iranian authorities immediately revoke the death penalty of Dr. Djalali. Download the sample email from Amnesty International below.

Despite enormous efforts by the world community, the situation of Prof. Dr. Ahmadreza Djalali remains extremely critical.
Unfortunately, the injustice so far from here continues unabated and has reached deplorable heights in recent weeks. The recent postponement of execution proved that all actions have some effect. Therefore, we must continue to try to keep the fate of Prof. Djalali in the spotlight as much as possible!
Therefore, the Study Circle Free Research calls for massive video messages on social media on Thursday 10/12 at 10h00, calling on the Iranian government to release Prof. Dr. Ahmadreza. Any public interest in the fate of Prof. Djalali is a step closer to his homecoming or an improvement of his living conditions.
