Supporting Social Entrepreneurs to make this world a better place !

If you have an interest in social entrepreneurship and want to know better about their innovative ideas to transform our world, then the VUB Chair of Social Entrepreneurship is the place to be! The chair carries out research on social entrepreneurship and also works aims at providing hands-on support to social entrepreneurs. 

Since 2015, the VUB Chair of Social entrepreneurship has been delving into social entrepreneurship research and creating different opportunities to support social entrepreneurs at VUB, Belgium and abroad. In terms of research, for example, topics of interest have been the most efficient business models for enterprises or the support ecosystem for social entrepreneurs. 

But why is this so important?  

Social entrepreneurship equals dealing with the biggest challenges of our planet, such as poverty, hunger, access to basic healthcare or complex environmental issues. Social entrepreneurs develop innovative solutions to address such challenges using a business idea. One leading example of a Social Enterprise is 'Close the Gap' one of the founding partners of the VUB Chair of social entrepreneurship. This venture aims to reduce the digital divide by providing European computers to developing and emerging countries. These kinds of initiatives help to improve the quality of life all over the world. We are constantly looking for volunteers or interns, to help us expand our activities and support to social entrepreneurs. 

The VUB Chair of Social Entrepreneurship is constantly organizing multiple events at VUB such as the VUB Social Entrepreneurship Challenge and the VUB Social Entrepreneurship Fair, our annual flagship event that reunites more than 500 participants around keynote speakers and presentation of social entrepreneurs. 

The Chair is also active at the national ecosystem of Social Entrepreneurship as an active member of different organizations that promotes and support social entrepreneurship, such as Belgium Impact.  Internationally, we lead different projects in cooperation with multiple universities and a broad network of other ecosystem actors. 

For students, the VUB Chair of Social Entrepreneurship also support actively ENACTUS Belgium, and we are the contact point for ENACTUS VUB chapter.
