Self love is the best love, and that's that!
In 2021, issues such as sexual orientation, gender identity and mental health will no longer be unknown to us. Yet it can still be difficult to find your place in this diverse and fast-evolving society. Does that sound familiar? Meet the youth organisation Basta!
With Basta!, chairwoman and VUB alumna Maaike wants to facilitate access to the LGBTQ+ community for young people up to thirty years old. The bar at Rainbowhouse in the heart of Brussels opens its doors to everyone who is looking for a safe space and wants to make contact with their peers. In addition, the members of Basta! regularly give lectures in Brussels schools on themes such as gender equality, mental health and self-acceptance. The main objective of the initiative is to create tolerance for everyone, no matter what orientation or (gender) identity!
Do you want to help educate the youth in Brussels about tolerance and are you looking for a place where you can feel at home and be yourself? Then take a look at the Basta! site and ask for an intake interview. After that you will be assigned a buddy who will show you the ropes in the organisation. We hope to see you soon in our cosy bar where self-love and tolerance reign supreme!
